we have a vokera combi boiler. the pressure gauge keeps reading 3 to 3.5 bars and therefore water comes out of the pipe outside. we have tried letting water out of the system which reduces the pressure but then it rises again once the boiler starts heating up. any suggestions??

i read somewhere the heat exchanger could be perforated. is this serious and could this be the case?

it could be the plate heat exchanger passing into the central heating but more than likely its the filling loop, disconnect the silver hose and see if the pressure still rises.

If its an "Option" or "Compact" it is likely to be the heat exchanger.

New heat ex is the only answer.

start at the start

remove filling loop, and de pressurise pressure to 1.5 bar

run central htg, does pressure rise to 3 bar? if so....

de pressurise to 1.5bar and close cold water inlet valve

run central htg, does pressure rise to 3 bar? if so expansion vessel needs recharged or replaced see FAQS at top of page

if the pressure just rises all the time heat ex pinholed and mains water passing into ch side and lifting pressure

how do you recharge an expansion tank
