could anyone please recommend a heating engineer to replace diaphragms in the diverter valve and the flow switch, as looking back on this forum seems to be the problem. In the TYNE & WEAR area specifically shiney Row. There is also a small leak somewhere in the system for which we need to top the pressure every 2 weeks, so the leak is not that bad. How would he find the leak incidentally? Would the simple solution be a leak sealer?

Give Vokera a ring on 08703330220 and they should be able to recommend someone who has been on one of their training courses who is local to you. I live in the smog about 50 miles south of you so I dont think it would be viable for me to travel that far.
If you have to top up every 2 weeks I would say that is quite bad.
Check your pressure relief pipe isnt leaking outside [ Thats the 15mm one that goes through the wall behind the combi usually] This would mean a pressure relief valve needs renewing as well!
Check around rad valves for a leak yourself. Look for tell tale damp marks in or near places where you think there are pipe runs
Worst case scenario is that there is a pipe under a wooden floor [usually laminated] thats leaking.
There aint an X-ray eyes answer for this. You just have to use logic to figure out where the leak may be and hope you get lucky.

Look at the spindles on the radiator valves. If they are not clean metal with residue, change the valve.

You will never find the leak as the water is drying out before wetness can be noticed. It leaves a mark on the metal though. Raise the pressure to 2.75 bar, leave the boiler switched off (BY THAT I MEAN THE PILOT AS WELL or you will end up with a bigger leak). You may just be able to locate wetness at higher pressure with system being cold.
