Hi

I have a Vokera Excel 80SP Combi Boiler.

It seems fine, however I noticed that the flow pipe from the boiler ( going to the central heating ? ) gets hot when you open a hot water tap, even when the central heating is switched off ??

Is this normal ?

Thanks

How far away from the boiler does it get hot and how hot and for how long?

Thanks - let me check and revert back - might is just be conduction of heat through the walls of the copper pipe ?

Yes. Could just be heat transfer through the diverter valve like you can get at a mid port valve.

Pipe does get hot but heat should not travel far.
There can be wear and tear to the diverter beam that can allow some heat to escape to the radiator though
If boiler has not been serviced (properly), reduced travel on diverter will allow water seepage to radiators

if the pipe is getting hot constantly while the HW is running and the HW is not as hot as it should be then it is either the innards of the diverter valve or more rarely they have a part called a fulcrum disc which I have seen being holed and when the fulcrum arm engages the thrust rod in the diverter just pushes through the fulcrum disc, I found a replacement fulcrum arm on ebay but to be honest I cant honestly remember if it comes with the disc , maybe someone else will be able to confirm its a long time since I ordered one.
