Wasn't aware the expansion vessel was optional!
Its inside the boiler already and it is there to accomodate the expansion of water when heated.

This is not the main one at the back of the boiler. It says it is an optional expansion kit.

Ah! Its a domestic hw expansion vessel.
This vessel is a smaller version of the heating expansion vessel. But it is charged to 2 bar. This vessel absorbs any increase in pressure after the hot water tap is closed after use. This prevents damage to pipe work and stops water hammering.
