My boiler runs fine if you leave it on continuously, the problem starts when you use the timer, if its been off for a few hours and then clicks on the temperature rises really quickly on the display and then the burner cuts out, then the temperature drops really quickly on the display and the flow pipe heats up for a few secs and this continues , if i am in the house and notice this happening i usually turn the boiler off 2 or 3 times and eventually it works.
my first thought was the pump was air locking, so i replaced the bleed cock on top of the pump, made no difference, now i am thinking the pump is sticking preventing the water form circulating and causing the burner to cut out on safety cut out.
about a year ago my DHW heat exchanger choked up so after clearing it i fitted a magnaclean filter, which is never really dirty when i check it, so i didn't think the system was that dirty?
any advice gratefully received
Thanks
