The whole system seem to be very slow in starting up both CH & DHW looking at it with cover off it seems to be the flow switch that takes bout 3 mins to operate it then all works ok - could this be the pump or DHW diaphram ? when i move pump from rear nut before starting it fires ok so not sure which to tackle first -press diff switch OK -seems not to be getting primary flow stright away but once working keeps going all night !

Any Idears pls

Your post is a bit confusing

Are you saying that when you turn it on the boiler flow switch takes 3 mins to operate.

Explain where you think the boiler flow switch is.

Yes thats correct if i manually operate the Flow micro sw switch it fires up

The fault could be flow switch diaphragm/pump/or some sort of blockage.

When was it last serviced...or can't you remember that far back

I would get it serviced properly, ask whoever does it to get a service kit and replace every part in it. Fan/venturi/main heat exchanger will also need cleaning.

Thanks for the info -serviced last year but bout 9 years old may try pump as seems quite tight when try to turn from mtc screw at rear -when system hot all works so maybe pump tight to start from cold ?

What was done on the service?

Or was it given a good coat of looking at

I think the usual clean burner- blow out veturi pipes -burner pressures etc
reliable man but not with us anymore i'm afraid - not got round to this year yet -if diaphram bust surly system would stop as water got into front of it an equalised pressure?

Point Taken ! thanks for you interest will let u know as i work through it .

back when fixed to let all know - Ta

If you do delve into the flow switch make sure all the water ways are clear and don't drop the spring and loose it down the floorboards never to be seen again

scatmanjohn, your advice has fallen on deaf ears (me thinks).

Good sound advice.

I have same boiler for last 12 years (Vokera Excell 80SP).
It's had yearly gas inspection, few repairs, but never a proper service.
(repairs were fan replaced in 2002 after water entered boiler, blocked venturi in exhaust outlet)

Is service worth doing ??
How do I find boiler plumber to service my boiler properly who knows what they're doing ??

How much should service normally cost ??

Thanks
