VW Polo 1.2 dash indicators rapid flashing, but all indicators including the repeaters are all indicating at a steady pace like normal.

Is this an error message I can diagnose and fix or is it due to something not related to bulbs blowing?

Wires wearing?
Rusty bulb sockets?
Dashboard need fixing?

Do you mean the exterior indicators are flashing at a different speed to the dash indicators?

Or do you mean they flash rapidly but not when indicating ?

Have any of the bulbs been changed lately?

Hi - thanks for reply.

I mean when I indicate, the direction arrow on the dash blinks rapidly, but the external indicators rear, repeater and front are blinking at normal rate.

This applies to both directions.

All bulbs replaced as new but did not solve the problem.

Just side ( both sides) or hazards too ?

Has it suddenly happened and was previously ok ?

On hazards, all external indicators blink steady and the indicator arrows on the dash blink steady as well.

It started on the left side first and then it started to affect both sides. Not suddenly.

Just coming back to this.

It's not something I've ever seen. Was hoping for more input from others

But the only logical thoughts are wrong bulbs fitted, or electrical/ecu issues.

I'd try 4 new 382 bulbs 1st

ECUTesting reckon that this has been a problem on Polo's 2002 - 2009.......usually ending in dashboard failure.
I've never come across this one, so no guesses from me!
John :)

I’m old school so would suggest dodgy earths or bulb/flasher unit on its way out. But I’m sure indicators use more up to date technology now.

I would be trying asking some questions on the club/owners forum for these cars. If nothing DIYable then poss get an auto spark. Or if car is low value (don't know what year it is), just live with it.
