soft close mechanisms bugger up if you are in the habit of pushing the seat down faster than it wants to fall on its own.

That’s absolutely correct. You have to look after it well if you want it to last. I have 8 other people in my household. So its constantly in use throughout the day. This may have played a part it effecting the mechanism.

Hi there again. I have another question. How come my walk in shower the water keeps dripping after using it. i.e when you have finished doing a shower after a few minutes the top starts to drip. Is the water remaining at the top of the head coming out?

Yes, it's just the weight of water eventually overcoming the seal inside the shower head.
