Wall filler or plaster required?

I have recently taken off a skirting board and taken a big chunk of plaster off with the board. The hole isn't square but it's around 30cm long, 10cm high and ranges from 5mm - 12mm deep. Either.
Whatever is cheapest.
Any exposed area that can be seen, that will want painting will need a good decorating filler over as a final skim and 120 grade sanding to make smooth.
So one coat will fill but not easy to make really smooth.
The tx110 will do the lot and sand smooth.
