Hey

Started a job have been putting off years and have removed a dado rail.

To be honest I thought it was going to go a lot worse than it was - no major damage to walls but they will need some prep to tidy up before painting.

There’s a few holes but nothing major, the biggest thing to fix seems to be years of paint bringing it un level - just wondering the best way to fix this?

I’m guessing to fix I just need to stand down the rough edges, filler across the whole area where the dado was and sand it to smooth it out between the top and bottom?

Have attached some photos too.

Thanks
Marc

I tried that when I removed our dado rails years ago. Filling didn’t quite work (we just painted the walls) and it was still visible. In the end, I papered the walls with thick lining paper and painted them again.

Yeah. That happens as you get a smooth patch alongside wall.
I run filler over the entire wall as only takes 10 mins then dustless sand. Guess it's not that easy without practice and the sanding kit, although you can use a cheap orbital sander and 180 grade bodged on a vacuum
