Wallpaper adhesive suitable for hang on the wall fires?

Hi

Can anybody help??
I have a flueless gas fire and have been told I cannot hang anything above it including wallpaper. I was wondering if anybody knew of any specialist wallpapers or adhesives that can be used with these fires as I really want some wallpaper as the wall is so bare

What was the reason they said you couldnt wallpaper the wall?...ive hung paper on walls that have open coal fires..which is a similar principle and never had any problems

I cant see why you cant line the wall first to give the finish paper maximum grip then paper over the top..use a ready mixed paste and dont turn the fire on for a couple of days to make sure the paper has shrunk as much as it can.
