She needs more wardrobe space. Undecided on three door freestanding wardrobe or sliding door wardrobe. Just a bit worried about the safety aspect of the sliding doors with/without mirrors. Can they come off the rails? Are mirror doors safe in a child's room? Any thoughts appreciated.

Which ever choice of door you go with, if its free standing secure it the wall, especially with children around. They have been known to fall with a little help from pulling hands.

Have done a few and not known any problem because you would need two people to lift it off the rail runner which is similar to a patio door. As long they are fitted correctly you should have any problem. Also maybe best unless they are all now laminated mirror for safely.

Mirrors in a bedroom should have safety backing, which is just like stick-backed plastic on the back of the mirror. Then if it gets smashed the bits mostly stay stuck to the backing.

There is the possibility with children and sliding doors that they get there fingers in line with the sliding door. If I were fitting them for children I would put spacers in the top of the runs, to prevent them closing against the door frame. Certainly if they are to be free standing and they are against a wall, they should have retainers fitted.
