It doesn't surprise me one bit.
not so much jobsworths, but ridiculous targets and policies set, which mean officers are unable to use discretion and are only concerned with knocking off targets.
when i started in the police you went to a domestic between husband and wife. Only arguing no violence. Common sense was used and if we thought it needed to calm down for the night and they needed a bit of breathing space we would either take one in to prevent a further breach of the peace or arrange for them to go elsewhere for the night ie a friend, relation etc. What happens now? They HAVE to arrest one of them. No discretion. You have officers earning £25K who are no allowed to think. Ridiculous.

I have very good friends in the police Thermo (my age so been in many years now) and I don't beleive any of them would have arrested this guy.
There are still people in the police who do what's right and don't simply follow orders though you're probably right in that they will be the older officers and probably in the minority nowadays

And i can confirm there are a couple of them in Gloucester. Complete tossers.
It's shocking, but sadly doesn't surprise me. When you can get done for assaulting someone who has broken into your house, then police taking the word of some thug really doesn't shock me.
We have some real idiots for police round here too. Motorists are their favourite target. A classic incident was for my brother. He used to work the door of a nightclub and a girl he knew was away to walk through the town centre to get home. For her safety, he said he'd give her a lift. The road that she lived on was a road for buses and taxis but not for ordinary cars. It was three in the morning and other than drive the entire way round the town centre to get into the street when her house was actually only about 50 yards round the corner, my brother just turned the corner. A police car behind him drove past an almighty big fight that was going on outside the kebab shop to pull him and do him for being where he shouldn't have been. I know he shouldn't have went into the bus/taxi bit, but surely with a bit of common sense at that time of the morning and the fact that there was a big fight going on the police should have prioritised!
Kids nowadays are too good at shouting about their human rights and how you can't do this to them and you can't do that to them. A cuff round the ear never did me any harm when I was a kid.

My daughter was burgled recently..the police offered the piece of filth that did it to bring the stuff back and accept a caution..
Some clown had probably decided that because he is a poor ol herion addict then punishment wouldnt be right
Personally I hope his next score will be cut with rat poison.

My father caught a burglar in his shop and battered him senseless.
When the local community plod arrived the scroat was well known to them and, when they searched him, they found he had a large knife.
They just said "protecting yourself were you Sir!!!!" to my father and took him away ... Nothing further happened to my father and the scroat got 2 years
I'm more worried about what happens when he gets out as my father runs a gym and all the members have said they will kill him

Reading in the paper today and in 2006 over 204,000 citizens emigrated and the majority are professionals saying the main reason was crime and we are taking in about 1500 a week from war torn countries and eastern europe......can anybody else see the direction of this country
