The pipe run length from my new wash basin to the soil pipe is just under 4m. Building regs part H show that 50mm diamter pipe is the correct size for runs up to 4m long BUT this seems to be shown only for sinks. Does this also apply to wash basins?

I intend connecting to the vertical soil pipe and can set the fall to whatever I want (anywhere in the 18 to 90mm per m range). I can also pretty much run any size pipe (within reason of course!)

32mm pipe max length 1.7m

40mm pipe max length 3m

50mm pipe max length 4m

However the max length can be exceeded by fitting an antisiphon valve at the basin.

The fall should be about 18mm per metre run.

Cheers for the advice,

I thnk I will run the whole lot in 50mm (except the last few inches at the basin end), but I will also put antisiphon valve in at the basin end for 'belt and braces'.

Thanks again,

Steve

Better to leave the anti siphon valve out unless there is a problem!
