I’ve just bought a new AEG washer/dryer. It makes a very loud recurring noise (every second) when I start it. The drainage pipe pulsates at the same time.

Then once the spin wash starts, the noise stops. It starts again during the dry cycle.

The appliance is integrated. It isn’t vibrating. This happens even when it’s empty.

Any ideas what this could be caused by?

It sounds like the drain pump may be cycling on and off repeatedly, which would explain the pulsing hose and the recurring noise. Since it happens even when the machine is empty, it is probably not a load balance issue. It could also be related to the installation, such as the drain hose being positioned too low or partially blocked, causing backflow and constant pumping. I would double check the drain hose height and make sure there are no kinks. If everything looks correct, it might be worth contacting AEG support, as a faulty pump or sensor on a new unit should be covered under warranty.
