I just had to get rid of our old washing machine as it do not drain properly and smelt. Just used the new one for the first time and it has not drained properly. What could be the issue?
Take the u bend off and check that's clear, is the sink draining OK? Can't see how a drain smell could be associated with a washing machine in that set-up.
Stop using liquid soap and start using powder.
That will help greatly to start with.
Start using calgon and we buy the big boxes off Amazon.
Calgon helps stop the black slime. Problem is low temperature washes don't kill bacteria. Needs to be over 60c as that liquid soap and lower temperature washes are a common problem with sludge build up.
Just for your information.
With your old machine id of looked up the cleaning cycle and how to trigger it. It's not always marked on machine panel so look in the instructions.
I'd of poured a bottle of bleach in and run the cleaning cycle, but it that worries you 1lt of white vinegar and run the cleaning cycle.
Also lay old machine on its side and swap pump for about £30 is worth a punt. No skill required. Takes less than 5 mins.
Always worth a try as they only last 5 years.
To test your new machine. put the machine drain pipe in a bucket to catch the water if you think there is a problem.
Take drain u bend apart and clean out as probably clogged up I'll guess or tape up sink overflow hole and plung sink for all your worth
