washing machine help !!!!

our washing machine works no probs :) the only thing thats confusing me is after a wash and spin we can leave it over night machine empty but when we check the machine theres water in the bottom ?????? we empty it again and leave it over night and same thing happens ?? this has happened since we had a burst watermains a couple of streets away, please help us :)

i presume it is clear water? (as opposed to dirty "sink style water")

it will be the cold water inlet valve is on its way out as it can not hold back all the pressure.

get a new one, very easy to fit.

sorry to be thick , is this on the WM or the pipes from the sink ?

more a case of in than on the washing m/c, & dont forget to unplug it AND turn the water off first

When you replace the valve make sure the fine gauze filter is fitted. What has happened is that when they messed with the water mains they released grit into the system. This may have passed into the valve and prevents the valve from sealing properly. This is a lot more common than people think and can be prevented with the correct filter.
