washing machine: indesit 1200

My washing just stopped while washing. I put it on again and heard a noise and a smell that something had burnt. Now when I put it on, the light comes on but nothing happens. Can anyone help me before I call the engineer?

Unplug and disconnect

If you remove the top have a look at the capacitor attached to the mains power lead where it enters the machine (this sometimes blows either with a bang or just a plastic burning smell although if you have power to the user interface I would presume this is ok)

Next it would be have a look at the PCB and see if there is any damaged tracks or burnt areas (the board could be at the base of the machine on the right rear with another at the top or just have one at the top 'dont know your model number')

I have check everything you said and there is no damage whatsover. Now I am stocked, please advise further of what to do to get this wash mashing working before I call the engineer. thanks

check the drum still rotates freely
