My Hotpoint Aquarius (5 years old)washing machine has started leaking from both the door and the soap dispenser.Also the water no longer empties unless it is spun several times.Could this be the pump?

More likely a blockage.
Drain the machine, remove the tub to pump hose at the tub, you'll find debris in there I'm sure.
