washing machine not washing above 40 deg

i have moved my washing machine into the garage and plumbed it up with water from the house, (cold water only).
previouly the washer worked fine, but now it won't run any programme that washes at 40 deg or above.
will it need a hot water feed to do this or should it be able to heat the cold water up to do this.

It will run fine on just cold but you need both hot and cold connections on the back of the machine connected to the cold supply. To do this you can buy a Y piece that fits on your water valve.
