Hi,

My 5 year old Ariston washing machine trips the RCD a couple of seconds after switching the machine on, in any cycle.

I've checked for damaged wires and can't find any. No water leaks either.

After reading some old threads on here, I disconnected the two spade connectors on the alloy box on top of the drum (is this the heater?).
With the spade connectors removed, the washing machine starts and runs fine.

It appears that the alloy box can be split apart by undoing several star head screws. Is it worth me buying a special screwdriver to explore further? Or should I call in an engineer??

Cheers
