I brought a property 6 months ago, the house was built in 2021. In the last two months my waste drain got blocked twice. I have found the rason why its getting blocked, the solution looks to be more complex. The waste drain is on my own driveway which is private property (freehold). It appears that my waste pipe connects to a communal one which runs along in everyones driveway.

The issue appears to be when I flush my upstairs toilets the waste come out of the pipe (circuled in red) instead of going down the centra pipe due to the fast speed it travels it overshoots and gets stuck in the blue section, this would then build up and fall into the central pipe and cause a blockage.

Does anyone know how can this be fixed and would it be my responsibility as its on my driveway or the water authority.

Ordinarily, this issue (thousands of IC's have it including mine) should not cause a blockage. Sounds more like inadequate fall or a dip or a shifted duff joint issue.

Yes - its your responsibility if the private drain has not yet joined the common line (sewer etc).

Usually down to poor installation, waste is flying into the chamber too fast and overshooting the main channel. As Noseall has said, if it's a shared drain by that point, it's the Water Co's responsibility, they may do something sooner rather than later if you keep calling them out to unblock it.

If it falls to you to sort it, then you can get channel covers for the unused inlets, Osma Part No's 4D948 Left Hand and 4D949 Right Hand.

I'd advise getting someone in to fit, you don't want to be head and shoulders down the chamber without suitable PPE and Gas Monitor.

If that central pipe is a communal one - it's the water co.s responsibility
