Hello,

My kitchen has had a leak which had bowed the floorboards. The heating has also broken so it's been 14 degrees for the last two weeks in that area. Do you think the floor will return to normal now the heating is working, or should I replace the floorboards?

IE00, good evening.

OK first this is a classic Home Insurance Claim?? But there is an Excess to pay, check your policy and do the maths. Some Excesses go up to £ 500??

Back to your question?

Those images posted are at the extreme end in the range of water damage to timber flooring, that degree of lifted boards is not usual?

What is below the floor? is it another layer of timber? or Concrete? or joists??

With the degree of upward movement indicated in the images, there is a limited chance of the floor going back down? BUT? if the leak has been addressed the floor may? settle a bit? depends on what is below the flooring and is it still wet down there?

Ken.

Doesn’t look like floorboards , floating floor laid over top of boards? Not fixable, claim if you have insurance .
