i have water flowing from my overflow from my expansion tank but the water is not coming in from the inlet as the ballcocks doing it's job. i can see water coming in to the expansion tank from the hot water cylinder feed ? should this be happening?

The coil has gone on your hot water cylinder - time for new one (cylinder that is)
