Hi all I have been trying to track down a water hammer issue but still can't find the offending pipe.
It is loudest by the mainwater feed, by the stop cock. I have looked at all the pipes between that and the old airing cuboard and can not see any movement in the pipes at all. I have stuffed insulation around the pipes I can reach but to no avail.
Out of desparation I tried messing around with the water pressure and when I increased the pressure the noise changed from 5-6 clanks to just 1or 2..!!
So a couple of question (Bear with me I am a newbie..)
Should I be able to see pipes moving.
Does it follow that the offending pipe is near where the noise is loudest
Is it worth replacing the stop cock
Is it worth changing the mains riser to plastic.
Any help wil be much appreciated
