Hello all,

Not sure if i I have water hammer or not but sounds very much like it. When I turn any hot water tap on in the house and cold water tap upstairs it sounds like someone is playing a beagle or a trumpet! It also happens when the washing machine is on. I have read through the posts but nothing sounds exactly like my problem. It has only been happening for a couple of days but it is getting really annoying now!

I have turned the stop cock to full capacity under the kitchen sink (not sure if I thought this would help)

Any advice would be great.

Thanks. :)

Turning the stopcock down is more likely to reduce it.

Unfortunately it is not something we often see except from closing float valves.

Look at the inlet (float) valve on the cistern in the loft - its washer is probably vibrating.
Change either the washer or the whole vale if it's that.

If it only does it when you turn on a mains tap, it isn't the above.

DOn't leave your stop cock fully open, back it off 1/4 turn or it'll seize.
