Hi all,

we have ripped up all our floors as we have had a damp problem which we found that was due to ventaltion problem under the floors.

After removing about 2 ton of builders rubble that had been dumped under the floors we arrived in the house this morning to find 3 pools of water about 2" deep.

The area's are where we have dropped down into the loung from the hallway and where the builders have been stood, well this is what we are thinking.

I think this is due to us living on a high water table and having clay in the subfloor.

Is there a way to keep this to a minimum as i'm thinking stanging water that may get warm causes steam thus causing condensation.

Oh and somebody left a live socket on the floor which was in the middle of one of these pools

Any other ideas much appreciated (not about electrics, just the water).

Thanks
Simon

Find the lowest point under the floor and dig a 600mm deep hole and place a bucket in the hole and drill holes in the side of the bucket.

Then place a dirty water float activated pump into the bucket, making sure it is plugged into an RCD socket. .

The purpose of putting the pump into the bucket is that it will last a lot longer and will not get blocked

Have the flexible hose run to an outside gully.
