Against my better judgement, I used some water-based five year woodstain on some wooden doors six weeks ago.

Following some rain last night, I see there are circular water marks all over the bottom of the doors. They don't seem to wipe off.

Any idea if these will go away? Seems unlikely.

Will contact the manufacturer on Monday.

May be that the stain is washing off.

Doesn't exactly wipe off with a damp cloth, though methylated spirit seemed to clean it up a bit on a very small test sample.

I don't intend messing about with it until I can contact the manufacturer. Also will see how the rain dries naturally.

In the meantime would certainly appreciated any ideas.

It was always in the back of my mind a water-based product wasn't the correct way to go, yet I gather water-based is the future.

Ronseal by the way. After I've slagged them off on this site, I was daft enough to use this product.
