Water pipe insulation

Hi,
Im going to insulate the water pipes in my loft, some are copper and some are plastic. Stupid question but do the plastic pipes need insulation?

Yes, any pipes carrying water (inc. for the ch system) in unheated areas need insulating. If you have loft tanks, these need insulating too. It's often a good idea not to have loft insulation under the tanks, so that they gain a small amount of heat from the house.

Thanks, another stupid question, ive got a gas pipe outside, does that need any insulation?
