Over the past few days the water from all our cold taps has started running cloudy.

Things of note:

It used to run cloudy just after you turned the tap on and then ran clear a few seconds after.

About two weeks ago a plumber changed the cold water over in our flat from tank fed to mains fed (the kitchen sink was always mains fed)

They all now run cloudy constantly.

A week ago i turned the cold water supply off and ran the hot water tank dry as I needed to change the hot and cold taps in the bath. Once I had done this and turned the water back on the hot water wasn't running properly presumably due to an airlock so I used a hose to flush the hot water system using the cold.

Any ideas as to why all my water is now cloudy and do i need to do anything about it?

Thanks :D

mine does from time to time. as long as it settles clear i dont think theres anything wrong. hasnt harmed me yet.

First guess would be dissolved air forming small bubbles when the water comes out of the taps, giving a milky white haze.

Draw off a glass full of cloudy water, let it stand for a while and see if it clears, and if it leaves any sediment in the glass.

Dissolved air usually clears from the bottom upwards, sediment from the top downwards.

Thanks to both of you for your assurances. It does clear from bottom up and leaves nothing in the water so I am sure it is just air bubbles.

I was just worried I had done something that needed fixing but if it's harmless and not a problem then I'll have a mince pie and a brandy and forget all about it!

Cheers
