Water Softener resite in loft

Any water softener experts out there ? We currently have a Waterboss water softener in our airing cupboard which is situated in the bathroom. Bathroom is being refitted and instead of the softener taking up precious space in cupboard we are having a shower fitted in the cupboard. Resite the water softener in the loft - is this a bad idea ?
