Hi,

I'm going to install a wetroom inot an old cupboard and can't picture how the door will end up being watertight. How are doors typically setup for wetrooms to be waterproof?

Wet rooms dont have doors.

Well they do into the room containing the (wet room) Its a bathroom door :D

How big is the area you talking about.

Watching Sky 327/328 make me think of some of the fun you could have in your wet room.

Its normal to have the wet part a little way from the door.

But if you wanted lots of wet fun with a free hose pipe then you could fit a plastic door like a kitchen door.

However, if its water tight then you must make sure you have adequate fresh air from outside.

Now to the Bollywood films as they usually have a lot of wet saree scenes.

Judging by that post Tony you are well into a second bottle of red, Vodi myself,(glass that is)

Fitted 3 this year and have 3 on the books a nd 2 in quote state.

Wedi and Impey are good, BUT, a system Im using is cheaper and better.
470k across 400 center joist without additional support.

Now them bases can support your kind of wetroom fun

wet rooms dont have doors as such
they have a large area away from the shower for it to turn into a normal room with the surface water shed into a drain

so wet area the drying area draining toward the shower then flat normal area where you could have a door because its like a normal bathroom

After having a sore left big toe two weeks ago, I am having rather less 13-14% red wine and less red meat.

Tonight, I had a Rheinhessen 8.5% Spatlese and as thats now finished I am having a little vermooth until I turn in ( I nearly said pass out ). As I came out of the store, I was approached by someone who works in a parts shop who saw my Agile Services " I love boilers" tee shirt. I had actually met him before at his shop.

I must remember to introduce him to one of my customers who is looking for a desi date.

I looked at a smaller house for sale which had two bedrooms and a wet room about 2 x 3 m and I was wondering what the vendor used his wet room for.

if youre worried about leakage you need to build a small weir over your door threshold and tank it.

when you fit the door you should also install a small plastic trim or lip at the bottom to deflect any spray over your weir and back into the room

The cupboard's about 5 foot by 3 foot - so not big enough to make into a conventional wetroom, more a showerroom, but as I don't want to just put a small standard shower cubicle into it, I was looking to get it all waterproofed like a wetroom then tied floor to ceiling. It's just the door I can't get my head around...

Ideas please :-)

You could try building a small step-over wall at the room threshold, say 100-150mm high by 100mm width. You could then tile this on the wetroom side and the top. This would stop any surface water leaving the room. Then fit the door on the wetroom side so that when closed it butts against this wall but goes down to floor level.
