wax on wood

Wax ran all over my finished wooden coffee table - the table is coated with a thin veneer - what is the best way to get the wax up? Thank you

What kind of wax is it?

I will presume it's candle wax.

I would remove as much as you can using a sharp paint scraper without getting dangerously close to the veneer. That is scrape most of it off with the sharp paint scraper, but be careful not to scrape so much off that you scratch the veneer with that scraper.

Now, if you live where the outdoor temperature is below freezing, I'd take the table outside and leave it out there for a few hours for the wax to freeze and become brittle. Then, use a plastic ice scraper for car windshields to scrape the wax off in hunks. It'll be harder than the wax, but it won't be hard or sharp enough to dig into the veneer.

If you live where the outdoor temperatures never go below freezing, then I'd probably be inclined to use the plastic ice scraper, but more carefully.

Use plastic scraper to remove hardened wax, This will leave a thin film of wax residue, which can be removed by using smooth kraft peanut butter, then use a light soap and rag to remove peanut butter. Use dry cloth to buff the table top.
