Hello, the last time we decorated we decided to wax the new hardwood doors because we liked the unfinished colour. Because the doors are now getting a little wear and tear we want to varnish them.

What is needed to remove the wax before we varnish? Will a sanding do or is there some other method?

Once the doors are ready for varnish/staining what is the best product to go for which will protect the doors (we have 2 kids...)

Thanks

:)

you can buy purpose made wax remover from anywhere that sells wax etc. The Liberon stuff is the best in my opinion

White spirit and steel wool work very well.

Wood Wax Finish Opaque is an opaque wood finish for modern, colored interior fittings. Whilst maintaining the wood's natural character, it is also water-repellent, wipeable and resistant to common household substances.Osmo Wood Wax Finish Opaque is non-drip and easy to use.
