WB 24 CDi

I was working in the vicinity of one of these today. It was operating on CH with it's thermostat set to max. The burner sounded like a train, choo,choo.choo,choo (don't laugh) and the pressure gauge needle was bouncing in unison. The owners appeared unaware and I said nowt and left. Has anyone come across this before. I'm just curious about what might cause this apparent problem.

Sounds like its been starved of oxygen and "baffling"
As a result it could be producing massive amounts of CO.
It needs attention

i may be wrong but i suspect a scaled /blocked hex,localized boiling causing the pressure to blip.
if it combustion related ,how would this affect the pressure gauge?

I don't think the pressure gauge bouncing is related as i have seen lots of these with a bouncing pressure gauge.
Also how would a blocked or scaled heat ex cause the combustion to be affected?

It shouldn't be a blocked heat exchanger as it's only been in a few months and it's installed on new pipework and rads. If it's potentially dangerous I think I'll suggest that they have it checked out. I don't have a FGA so I wouldn't be able to help.
