I started re-decorating my room the other day. All was well untill I got to the wall with the window in. Several cracks ran through the plaster, and I figured it would be more worthwhile taking the oppertunity to strip the plaster and redo it from scratch (there were some other loose patches as well as a some dents and hollows).
Anyway, onto the problem. I found out why the plaster was cracked. every cinder block under the window was loose. So I managed to remove them one by one with my bare hands.
So now I have no inner wall under my window (and no window sill), and from everything I can see, I can see just ONE wall tie (explains why it was vunrable)
I would like to add additional wall ties when I re-build it so as to stop the same happening again. Are there any considerations I should take into account for this project?
fixing ties into the external wall will be done by gluing them in between the bricks. Some cheap ass builder never bothered to morter between the bricks, so theres gaps between all of them.
Sam.
