More and more businesses (small and large) are turning to 'blogs'. The online software I'm using (three blogs in total) is Typepad..
This software also allows you to create fixed pages (like a normal website) and the blog itself can be very handy when you want to keep your customers etc up to date with new offers, new projects etc etc.
The Pro version costs around £ 80.00 and you don't even need a hosting site, that's all included.
One of our blogs we use for answering questions on wooden flooring, new products, downloadable leaflets etc.

Do you mean that there is a freeware version, or that it can be acquired illegally?

Web design is like civil engineering, it has to work in a range of hostile conditions, images on or off, scripting on or off; screen resolutions (mine's 2250 x 1600); you'd be surprised how many sites are unreadable for me because of overlapping text at my preferred text size of 18px; and the default in most browsers is 16px. Then there's content order (for assistive technologies and small screens), relevant meta tags and matching text content (for search engines). And lots more.

If you look in the profile you'll see that there's a place for web site details there. Putting it in a topic is against the rules - that's the harm, nothing more or less. The reason behind the rule is that the people who pay for advertising would be justifiably irked if people were to be allowed to do it for free - and I'm not implying that you did it to flout the rules.
