Weeping toilet inlet where supply elbow meets spigot?

The inlet on my WC has started weeping where the upward metal elbow/isolator nut meets the plastic spigot from the bottom of the cistern. Tried the leak-stop products around the nut to no avail. Isolating supply stops the dripping, even though there is an amount of water in the bottom of the cistern.

For you expert plumbers out there is this a common issue - is there a seal that typically goes where nut meets plastic threaded spigot.

Any tips/suggestions most appreciated.

Hi

Normally a fibre washer is present and anytime it is taken to pieces it should be replaced. Over a period of time the washer loses it's sealing capabilities.

Be careful with the plastic thread on the inlet valve easy to cross thread. Hand tighten then pinched up with a spanner.

Hope this helps

Thanks tincup - will try replacing the washer, and thanks for the x-threading tip. I am a bit ham-fisted at the best of times.

John Guest do a wonderful fitting called a "female coupler". For many plastic male threaded spigots this is a fantastic fitting, not least because it requires no spanner to tighten it.
