does a wetroom have to be tanked before it is tiled or can you just tile the walls and floor and silicone the internals and perimiters

If you want it to last any length of time, a definate yes.
if the wetroom is in a cellar/basement(no rooms underneath)..and the walls are concrete,then yes you could not tank out....BUT thats YOUR call.
if wetroom has adjoing rooms and underneath,then YES tank it with the correct prep/materials..etc..
