Hello all.

I would like to have a wet room in my loft, I have been quoted for a bathroom with shower no bath. I will have a sink and a toilet and some storage but do I need a shower enclosure and tray?

What material must I put on the floor ie: water proof tiles etc and how do I stop the water going underneath the door into the hallway?

Waiting in anticipation

A bathroom fitter that does wet rooms would awnser these questions when he quotes.

You don't need a shower tray if you don't want one

Their are lots of options on tanking

You can buy a screen, or set toughened glass into a channel in the wall.

The tiles will be swept into a fall back to the drain set in the floor

You don't need special tiles, although something Too smooth would be a slip hazard

Warm up under tile heating is a good idea, as it takes the chill out of the tiles and helps dry out the floor.

Don't put it under the toilet!

Thanks for that. I have a quote for a complete loft conversion, I asked to have a wet room but he hasn't quoted for tanking etc. instead he has included shower trays and shower enclosure. I just wanted to be sure of what his intention is.

Thanks once again

The difference in doing a wet room or shower etc is that a wet room is more costly on labour.

It's a much more specialist job.

I would get an independent wet room installer to do this side of the installation.

Bathrooms etc always come out better done by one multi tradesmen ( if he's good) than various tiler, plumber, carpenter. Because it's all about allowances and each stage prepping for the next which then comes together as a whole at the end.
