Hi

Currently having an extension done and the builders found wet rot under the existing bath. They have secured the joists with new wood and steel and have cut out most of the affected wood.

There is still some (what looks to me) rotten wood in place, but it is not serving any structural purpose any more - is there any potential issue if it is not cut out?

Thanks.

How is your existing bathroom tied into your new extension? Is the steel a lintel, or taking the weight of joistings?

You would do yourself a favour if you posted pics of the new floor and the remaining "wet rot".

Any kind of fungal damage needs to be removed or treated.
