We've done squirrels, what about Pigeons?

I have an ultrasonic scarer, its useless. I now have a Nerf multi blaster and sit in my lounge scaring the pigeons as they land. I can hit the washing from 60 feet away which is enough to scare them away. They are certainly coming into my garden less than they were. My new method has been in place since Thursday after a trial run with the grand kids nerf guns. I also have 150 darts available

I 've seen a device which uses waste pipe and a tennis ball, and a blowlamp.
Bottom end of waste sealed. Hole in side to accept blowlamp tip. Rotherberger style.
Drop ball in ( must sit above hole.) which fits quite well
YOu squeeze the trigger which lets gas into the tube, plus the air already in there.
Squeeze a bit more and the spark sends the ball three streets away. Hmmm....

edit: must have been 2 1/2" spa pipe...
Edit edit - penny has dropped - it would have been downpipe.

Professional pigeon pest control is done with a hide a lure and a shot gun from the hide, which may only have to be hedgerows. The farmer provides as many cartridges as you want because the pidgeons eat their crops. But even getting a shot gun license is harder today, I know a farm where one of the sons can’t get a shot gun license because too many in the family already have licenses.

Shooting pigeons with air rifle is one pigeon at a time, the rest fly away and dont come back soon enough for you to get another. Its not viable professionally.

In a different world, Sanctuary Housing when I worked for them all council estates, have a few guys with an air rifle and they shoot out the window down the back garden. But its legally sketchy. But people living in that way get away with whatever they want.

There were two brothers who were good poachers they had an illegal rim fire 22 consealed in the bottom of a trolley and a three leged Lurcher which could take down a deer. They went up the beck at scalby not far from their council estate. Around the beck were game birds and deer. All they were doing it for was to be able to eat. The trolley allows them to get the deer home.

I see my first garden rat in 18 months the other day. The Cat certainly does keep them at bay. But they are still about.

I might see if I can buy a couple Feral squirrels.

We have stopped putting out food, except for a small feeder in the shrubbery, which only a few small birds visit.
We never affected the number in the flock, which is up to a about 3-4 dozen now. They just hang around, in the same small area, less than 50m across. After half an hour of arriving and surprisingly noisy flapping around in sub-gangs and changing position, they bugger off. FOr a short time...

Someone fairly close had one of these kites on a pole for a while:
