Hi Guys,
I hope you can help!
My wife and I are looking to buy a property in France. We have a limited budget. And as is always the way she is erring on the side of caution and I'm throwing it to the wind.
I've found the most amazing and enormous farmhouse and barn complex. Structurally it's incredibly sound. 3' thick stone walls and formed concrete purlins with a brand new roof.
Problem is, it's a leviathan. We want an industrial loft style living space, so we don't need to do any decorating. BUT the roof needs insulating. I did some rough calcs and I think we'd be looking at 4.5 grand in Celotex alone!!!
Can anyone help with any options that might cost a bit less? Could I stuff fibreglass insulation in between the rafters and plasterboard? I'm sure this would be less efficient than Celotex (or another brand) but the cost saving would take years to catch up.
Ignore the false plastic sheet ceiling. The roof continues to the ridge.
I'd really value your opinion!!
