what are tese marks on drive and how to get rid?

Hello, what are these blotchy marks on my drive --- i cant get rid of them before i know what they are and how did they get there in the first place?

Efflorescence or salts.
Read up and decided which you have and try a specific remover
 
yes its Lichen - this stuff likes damp conditions, we get it round the north side of our house where the sun seldom shines, black spots at the front where it is dry and sunny, and the black marks are far more difficult to get rid of, they need the pencl jet on the power washer. where as the white comes off with the turbo jet.

Ai tells me white vinegar is a good cleaner for it, and if extreme, a bleach will certainly kill it (but may leave another type of white mark)
