What colour gravel/slate should I put down?

I could do with some opinions.

My driveway looks like this:

This isn't my driveway but it is a similar colour and in the same herringbone style.

I have a strip that runs down my driveway which I want to line with pebbles or slate but I can't decide on what the best colour would be. I'd like others opinions on what colour they think would suit. At the moment I'm edging towards 'green slate' although the green slate I've seen is white, or basic mixed colour pea gravel.

Green slate wouldn't be bad. That's an almost petrolly colour, isn't it?
