Hi all

Looking to purchase a core cutter set.

I will only be using it for 32/40mm waste.
Soil pipes amd 4" extractor fans.

This seems good for the price but has varying feedback?

I would also like to extend the arbour for longer reach.

I also have access to a proper 240v core drill but unsure if it's SDS or not?

Thanks.

If it's not SDS+ or better, I wonder how suitable it is.

For core drilling 110mm or bigger, with the capacity to handle concrete, the tool is usually extremely big and heavy, and pretty well unsuitable for anything else.

Edit,

Ah, so you're looking at diamond cutters. So no hammer action wanted.

I saw them used in Switzerland, clamped to the wall and with a hose water supply, not dry.

If it's not at least SDS then I would suggest it's not really designed for coring, that being said not all rotary guns are just for coring.

The key is to ensure it's is clutched otherwise the first jammer you hit might take you wrists out.

The actual diamond coring set are subjective IMO, they usually last as long as how hard, how often they are used and what material they are used on, that goes for the gun too. These days I have found the sets from the sheds can be just as good as the speciality ones but are half the price.

You can buy threaded shank extensions.

I adjust the clutch as light as it can be and still cut.

Better than having it spin your arm off.

If its something thick or hard I'll normally core in about 15 to 20mm then use a long 6mm drill bit on hammer and drill around the started core, with most of it stitched out by the 6mm drill it's a lot quicker and easier to core the rest out.

The last time I drilled a soil pipe hole, I just used a cheap Titan 6kg drill. It was a 9" wall in a bungalow. I knew the drill was underpowered but I went slowly. I was drilling for the loo waste pipe. I wouldn't have used it up a ladder. It did the job. I was working for mate, he was too tight to pay for a core drill hire. The Titan doesn't have a variable clutch but when it snagged, it stopped.
