Not really given you can do the plumbing; the biggest drawback, depending on the type of bath you have, is likely to be that the “other end” of the bath isn’t usually vertical so you will be forced to stand away from rather than under the shower & this causes a mess everywhere unless you have double shower doors or a wrap around curtain + standing on the curved base could make it unsafe for some.
In our old bathroom the powershower was fitted at the non-tapend of the bath, which was fine, until one morning when I was rinsing off the suds and stepped back a bit too far. The old plastic of the 'backrest' section of the bath didn't like having the weight of my foot on it and promptly split
Needless to say, in the replacement bathroom the shower is placed at the tap end of the bath!
