Can someone please explain what the thin large ring/washer is to be used for in this pic, as the Wikes staff couldn't figure it out. Thx.

I don't think the components are exclusively for a P trap and the larger seal could possible be for a bottle trap.
The large rubber ring are to go in bottom part of bottle trap, the bit that unscrew at the bottom and the ring is in there to seal between top and bottom part together.

Oh ok, so this packet is nothing really to do with a P trap then, its meant for a bottle trap or is this set meant as parts for either a P trap and a bottle trap?

One or two of the components will be suitable for a P trap but the large ring seal, is for a bottle trap.
For another £1.00 you could have purchased a complete P Trap.
