Hi all,

Just been down into my cellar (accessed from within the house, door in the kitchen) to find this "fungus" (??) growing on a patch of the exposed soil "floor" and a on the brick wall next to it.

Does anyone know what it is?

Had a hunt around on Google - could it perhaps be wet rot??

Thanks,
Mark

Looks like a form of Aspergillus

Aspergillus mold is a common type of fungus regularly found in homes and buildings. Not only is it an annoying problem, but it can also be hazardous to your health. In order for it to thrive, Aspergillus mold needs food and water; more specifically, it requires a source of decomposing organic material and a humid environment. An unusual level of humidity in a home can be caused by a leak in the foundation or in the roof, basement flooding, and water vapor. Materials made from organic substances, such as wooden shelving, paper, and various kinds of fabric, are also an ideal mold sanctuary given the right atmosphere.

quite possible as above post, but the middle pic looks a bit worrying to me?
