Hi,

I'm just about to try my first attempt at decorating and wonder if anyone has a tried and tested order to do things in. I'm planning on doing the glosswork and ceiling myself, then a new fireplace (professionally fitted), then getting a carpet fitted followed finally by a professional decorator to wallpaper. I thought it would make more sense to get the carpet last but I'm tied by the days that they are able to fit it. If there's anyone wo ho would do things differently, please let me know. Thank you.

Any structural and messy work needs to be done first. All filling and sanding needs to be done follwed by undercoating the woodowork. The ceiling needs to be painted follwed by the glosswork. The carpet could be fitted prior to the paperhanging as it could be sheeted up just like any other room.
